DRAFT MINUTES of meeting Kirkcowan Community Council held on Monday 17th April 2017 at 7.30pm in the Lesser St Couan‘s Hall.

Present: Mr J Paterson, Mr J Adair, Mrs W Baird, Mrs A Dabner, Cllr Nicol, Cllr J McColm Mrs J Sommerville, Mr P McAllister, Mr D McKenzie,  Mr R Drysdale, Mr K Tinker, Mrs W Wood,  Mr M Gumersell, Ms S Gray, Mr D Conduit,  Mr C Richardson, Mr J Ribbens, Mr M Godfrey, Police W Dodds.

  1. Mr Paterson welcomed everyone to the meeting. As Minute Secretary was absent Mrs Baird took the minutes.

 

MINUTES OF LAST MEETING

Accepted as correct.  Proposed -Mr P McAllister. Seconded – Mrs W Wood.

POLICE MATTERS

Fraud from callers saying from Microsoft and managing to obtain funds. Vandalism to car. Hit & Run B733 Green Van.

Operation Minarda. Trading Standards. Booklet given out with information on how to deal with bogus workman/ rogue traders. Police are always available to offer advice. The more information we can provide them with ie, date, time, vehicle, accents etc. Keep utility numbers handy to check if honest callers. Use Trusted Trading Scheme for any work.

Speed Watch. Police Scotland setting up protocols that communities can get involved with.

Machars Action reported problems with 101 phone number. Sometimes Glasgow will deal with local issues and not passing on to the local police.

Kirkcowan Village Hall Working Group –  Bingo was great success. Applying for charity status. Pilates starting. Looking at other groups.

Recycling – it was asked how long the trial in Newton Stewart was to last.

Litter Pick –arranged for Saturday 22nd April 2pm

Ballgreen- Minnigaff cubs would like to use the park in June for a campsite. No objections.

Windfarms :

Kilgallioch –  John & Jim attending meetings for wider fund company

Airies- hope to be producing any day.

Shennanton- meeting to go through reasons why application rejected.

Turbine Trophy – Sunday 30th July Glenluce

Refuse Bins –  ashes have been put in farm waste bags as stronger, but the bin had a notice put on saying no farm waste. Cllr Nichol will enquire.

Retiring Councillor- agreed to write to Cllr Geddes and thank him for all his help and support in past years.

The next meeting of Kirkcowan Community Council will be the AGM. Held 15th May at 7.30pm in the Lesser St Couan’s hall

             

 Completed Application Forms for Funding from Kirkcowan Community Development Trust.

The following applications was submitted to Kirkcowan Community Council for approval at their meeting 17th April 2017:-

Pilates Group – Application for Hall Fees £153.

Approved by Kirkcowan community Council.

Kirkcowan Parish Church- Application for painting external stonework, external windows and pointing repairs. Total Project £52,700 Requested £42,000

Approved by Kirkcowan Community Council.

Kirkcowan Angling Club – to help support a feasibility study. Practicalities & benefits of liming those upper stretches of rivers Bladnoch & Tarff that have become acidified over the years. Total Project £10,000 Requested £5,000

Approved by Kirkcowan Community Council.

 

Once approved by Kirkcowan Community Council the applications then go to the Directors of Kirkcowan Community Development Trust for approval.

 

Next meeting of Directors Wednesday 19th April.
