MINUTES of meeting Kirkcowan Community Council held on Monday 17th December 2018 at 7.30pm in the Lesser St Couan‘s Hall

Present: Mr J Paterson, Mrs W Baird, Mrs J Mortiboy, Mrs A Dabner, Cllr McColm, Mr D McKenzie, Mr D Conduit, Miss C Wilson , Mrs W Wood, Mr K Tinker, Mr M Gumersell, Mr C McEwan, Mr R Drysdale, Mr A Gladstone, Mrs J Sommerville, Mr G Mortiboy, Mrs H McWhirter.

Mr Paterson welcomed everyone to the meeting

Newton Stewart Road – JP phoned DGC roads department to report a large puddle at bus stop

Christmas – Christmas Eve church service all invited 6.30pm

Sound System – JP queried why speakers still at hall from Saturday – CW stated needed on Thursday, pouring with rain on Saturday so a decision to leave them in the hall was taken. There is a procedure for installing/taking down sound system – Contact JP, who in turn contacts DH who will liaise with however wishes to use system. DH is the person who will install/take down sound system. School need to be informed of this procedure too – ACTION JP

DGC Budget Simulator – Cllr McColm asked if anyone had tried to complete this. MG said he tried but it’s a pointless exercise. Cllr McColm stated point of exercise was to show the difficulties DGC have in trying to budget and still provide the service – 30 million to be saved over next 2 years

Flu Injection – WB wrote and received a response – complicated project, staggered supply of provision of drugs, 5 different vaccines, IT structure not in place to do at individual villages, was well organinse,
970 patients vaccinated.

Poppy Scotland – MG reported he collected £697.10. JP thanked MG

Mindork Road – RD reported that tar was nearly level with burn

Christmas Fair – This was a very good event and well done to all involved

Spittal Bridge – Hedges all cut back so sight lines good at present.

The next meeting of Kirkcowan Community Council will be held on Monday 18th February 2019 at 7.30pm in the Lesser St Couan’s Hall.

Completed Application Forms for Funding from Kirkcowan Community Development Trust

The following applications were submitted to Kirkcowan Community Council for approval at their meeting on 17th December 2018

Kirkcowan Village Hall Committee – Application for Architect to carry out feasibility study.
Application Request £6,400 – Three architects contacted, only one replied. Suggested two more quotes obtained before making a decision.
Once approved by Kirkcowan Community Council the applications then go to the Directors of Kirkcowan Community Development Trust for approval.
