Minutes of meeting Kirkcowan Community Council held on Monday 17th October 2016 at 7.30pm in the Lesser St Couan‘s Hall.

 

Present: Mr J Paterson, Mr J Adair, Mrs W Baird, Mr G McKie, Cllr Geddes, Cllr J McColm Mrs J Sommerville, Mr D Harper, Mr P McAllister, Mr D McKenzie,  Mr R Drysdale, Mr K Tinker, Mrs W Wood, Ms C Wilson,  Mr D Conduit, , Mr M Gumersell, Mrs A Dabner, Ms S Gray, Miss R MacDonald, Mrs M MacDonald, Mr C Richardson, Miss N Steele.

  1. TREASURERS REPORT – £895.05

 

  1. CORRESPONDENCE –

Dumfries & Galloway Smart Communities Housing Trust Board – members wanted

Adopt a kiosk http://www.payphones.bt.com/business/payphones/index.htm

It was agreed we would adopt the kiosk St Couans hall and plan to use for siting a defibrillator.

Newton Stewart & District Santa Sleigh Collection – Wednesday 14th December

The Hub- your community action centre – Winter Warmth for older people project. The project provides free kindling & logs to the over 60’s who satisfy the eligibility criteria. They are also looking for donated wood.

Kirkcowan Village Hall Working Group –  proposing that each groups of current users of the hall send a representative to Working Group meetings. Wendy Wood agreed to represent KCC.

Federation Update – Martin Gumersell gave us an update on the last meeting with representatives from Transport Scotland. Talk about water on the road & state of general repairs. Discussion took place regarding west bound road at Barlae.

Halloween – Monday 31st October 6.30pm

Winter Resilience-  agreed to have a update at the school sometime regarding bad weather situations. New generator point at hall. To have a trial run sometime. Discussed use of cards in peoples windows if needing help.

Recycling – it was asked how long the trial in Newton Stewart was to last. Wendy to look into.

Day Centre Outreach – Thursday 3rd November Kirkcowan Hall.

Windfarms :

Kilgallioch –  John & Jim meeting in Newton Stewart. Hope to be in production this time next year. A committee is to be set up with 12 members, 2 from each of the 4 communities for the larger community – Wigtownshire to Creetown.

Suggestion of looking into buying the ground from the railway line

Christmas Lights – new light for top of the tree has been bought.

Christmas Eve -Agreed to have Marlene Cash give a small talk to children on Christmas Eve as the minister will be away.

 

Mr Paterson thanked everyone for coming and the meeting closed at 8.50pm.

 

The next meeting of Kirkcowan Community Council will be held 21st November 2016 at 7.30pm in the Lesser St Couan’s hall

 

Completed Application Forms for Funding from Kirkcowan Community Development Trust.

 

The following application was submitted to Kirkcowan Community Council for approval at their meeting 17th October 2016:-

 

Kirkcowan Art Club – 40 members. Adults and children.
Application for Hall Fees, equipment & Insurance £2622.80. Approved by Kirkcowan community Council.
