Kirkcowan – What's Going On?

DG Support – Community Bulletin – Ed 102

As the days gradually draw longer, we start to enjoy a bit of sunshine, and we look forward to Spring, it’s also important to look back occasionally to ensure that we don’t repeat history and make similar mistakes.

This week’s Holocaust Memorial Day reminded us that all lives matter and that we need to take a stand against prejudice and hate. It’s a day for everyone to remember the millions of people murdered in the Holocaust under Nazi persecution and in the genocides that followed in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia, and Darfur.

This coming Tuesday is the 69th anniversary of the sinking of the MV Princess Victoria. The tragedy, still resonates, particularly in the towns of Stranraer and Larne. So, we’ll take time to remember those who died or were affected by their loss and the heroic efforts of those who risked or sacrificed their lives to save others.
