As we enter December and move towards Christmas and the New Year, we’re eagerly anticipating the roll out of vaccination against Covid-19 in our region. Eventually, we have some grounds for optimism that an end to what has been a devastating pandemic might be within our grasp.
However, it’s crucially important that we don’t drop our guard prematurely and that we continue to act responsibly to reduce the Covid-19 transmission rate and prevent a rapid increase in cases, which could still overwhelm NHS Scotland and cost lives.
Suppressing the spread of Covid-19 in Dumfries and Galloway has been a huge joint effort and we greatly appreciate it.
Currently in Level 2, our region is on track towards a lower level of restrictions in Level 1. To protect our loved ones and maintain our progress, it’s vital that we don’t sacrifice long-term gain and risk lives for short term pleasure. Particularly at this time of the year, we all want to spend time with family and friends.
But, please, we urge you, continue to stick to FACTS:
• Face coverings
• Avoid crowded places
• Clean your hands regularly
• Two metre distance
• Self-isolate and book a test if you have symptoms
