We’re heading in the right direction! A Covid-19 vaccination programme is underway and, from 6pm today, Dumfries and Galloway will be in Level 1.
At last, it feels like we have some good news and can permit ourselves a little optimism as a genuinely horrendous year comes to an end.
Of course, it’s crucial that we don’t relax too early and jeopardise our progress. We must keep our guard up to defend ourselves from a sucker punch. Covid-19 is still a highly contagious and deadly virus. We must all continue to act responsibly to protect ourselves and our loved ones.
We all want to have an enjoyable festive season but we must still guard against increasing the Covid-19 transmission rate. We must not risk a swift rise in cases, which could put NHS Scotland on the ropes, and cost lives.
We truly appreciate your effort and sacrifice to suppress the spread of Covid-19 so far. But, over the festive season, we can’t just throw it all away. To protect ourselves and our loved ones, and to keep moving forward, we mustn’t risk lives for short-term pleasure.
Please continue to stick to FACTS:
• Face coverings
• Avoid crowded places
• Clean your hands regularly
• Two metre distance
• Self-isolate and book a test if you have symptoms
