Just as we seemed to be making progress in tackling Covid, things have taken a turn for the worse.
The number of Covid cases in Dumfries and Galloway is on the rise again.
In mainland Europe, in response to rising case numbers, the Republic of Ireland, Germany, Austria and the Netherlands have reintroduced lockdowns, curfews and other restrictions over the last couple of weeks.
These are worrying developments as we head towards December and the festive season.
We’re increasingly worried about the impact they will have on people, communities, care services, and businesses.
We urge you to do everything that you possibly can to limit and slow the growth in the number of Covid cases.
Please wear a face covering in public places, consider your social interactions, stick to one social group, meet in well ventilated spaces or outdoors, avoid crowded places, continue to sanitise hands and surfaces, and get vaccinated or a booster if you’re eligible.
