As we anticipate and eagerly look forward to being in recovery from the effects of the global Covid pandemic, we welcome our Council’s funding amounting to £275,000 for festivals and events in the region.
Our Council has also extended its current Major Festivals and Events Strategy until March 2023, aiming to position Dumfries and Galloway as the best region in rural Scotland in which to plan, manage, deliver, and visit festivals and events.
In addition to funding the region’s Signature Events (Wigtown Book Festival, Big Burns Supper, D&G Arts Festival, Spring Fling, Tour of Britain, Scottish Rally, and World Championship Ice Hockey), our Council is immediately making £100,000 available through a Community Events Fund and a Major Strategic Events Fund, with an applications deadline of 28 January.
We very much hope that these funds are the catalyst for a range of events that signify and accelerate our economic and social recovery from the Covid pandemic in 2022.
