Following my search for information on the Kirkcowan Community Development Trust, last week, I’ve had a look to see what some of the other trusts in the area are up to…
The Kilgallioch Community Benefit Company – which is the umbrella company set up to distribute funding to Barrhill, Kirkcowan, New Luce & Old Luce and the individual trusts.
You will observe that they have all been rather more forthcoming with information on their members and various activities.
Barrhill, New Luce and Old Luce all ran a community wide consultation exercise on what residents actually wanted to use the funding for and then drew up an Action Plan and published it for all to see.
They run consultations on their various projects and keep folk informed of progress with periodic updates and newsletters etc.
Come on Kirkcowan – surely we can do better?
Kilgallioch Community Benefit Company
The Kilgallioch Community Fund has been established with community benefit monies from the ScottishPower Renewables Kilgallioch Windfarm. The Fund is distributed by Kilgallioch Community Benefit Company, which is run by a Board of local volunteers. Each year we are expecting to distribute £475,000 to community led projects across Wigtownshire in Dumfries and Galloway and South Carrick in South Ayrshire.

It has been pointed out that
” There was an open meeting on 1st February 2017*. Notice was well advertised in windows and flyers through all doors. The minutes of that meeting are on the website in archive. Over 50 suggestions were given on ways to use the windfarm money by the community.* Typo – actually 2016
Happy to Correct – Link to Community Council Archive – Open Meeting Minutes (PDF)
Can anyone provide a list of the suggestions? Now we can… (14th Sept 2020)
