Village Hall – 28th August 15:00 to 19:00
Why are we contacting you?
ScottishPower Renewables invites you to attend an information day to provide further detail in relation to our proposal to extend Kilgallioch Windfarm, which has been operational since 2017. The proposed extension is located approximately 10 km north-west of Kirkcowan.
Consultation is key to the way we develop our windfarms and throughout the development process we aim to ensure local communities and stakeholders are given the opportunity to provide feedback and are kept informed of project progress.
Following on from our Public Information Day in June, this second event is a great opportunity for us to hear the thoughts of the local community on this project and to outline the progress we have made.
Since the last event, we have been working on the design of the windfarm, and this second event is an opportunity for us to show the changes we have made.
It is also a chance for you to meet the project team, learn more about the windfarm development process, to find out about the survey work we have undertaken, and to ask any questions you may have about the project.
After the information day and gathering further feedback on our proposals, we will continue to update the design of the proposed development ahead of submitting an application to the Scottish Government Energy Consents Unit, which we are anticipating to be in Winter 2019.

Who are we?
ScottishPower Renewables is part of the ScottishPower group of companies operating in the UK under the Iberdrola Group, one of the world’s largest integrated utility companies and a world leader in wind energy.
ScottishPower now only produces 100% green electricity – focusing on wind energy, smart grids and driving the change to a cleaner, electric future. The company is investing over £4m every working day in 2019 to make this happen and is committed to speeding up the transition to cleaner electric transport, improving air quality and over time, driving down bills to deliver a better future, quicker for everyone.
ScottishPower Renewables is at the forefront of the development of the renewables industry through pioneering ideas, forward thinking and outstanding innovation.
Our ambitious growth plans include expansion of our existing onshore wind portfolio, investment in new large scale solar deployment and innovative grid storage systems including batteries.
The company is also delivering the Iberdrola Group’s offshore windfarms in the Southern North Sea off East Anglia as part of an international pipeline of projects across Europe and the USA.
With over 40 operational windfarms, we manage all our sites through our world leading Control Centre at Whitelee Windfarm, near Glasgow.
ScottishPower Renewables, with four operational windfarms in the local area, has been a neighbour for nearly ten years, generating cleaner power and socio-economic benefits for the local community.
Did you know?
We have been working alongside communities in south-west Scotland for nearly two decades and have contributed more than f30 million in benefit funds to support initiatives and projects for those communities local to our windfarm sites, with more than £ll million of this going directly to South Ayrshire and Dumfries and Galloway.
With established sites nearby, we have a history of working positively with local communities within the region. We are keen to ensure the employment and the business skills required to maximise economic benefits can be delivered locally to ensure those who live near our sites benefit.
We believe in open consultation and welcome your feedback to inform the windfarm design process. Our proposals will be shaped by the results of ongoing environmental and technical studies we are undertaking at the proposed site.
We also give careful consideration to how this proposal fits within the existing landscape, considering its visibility from key viewpoints in the surrounding area.
Powering your community
We are committed to being a responsible developer of renewable energy and we strive to be good neighbours in all areas of our work.
We encourage as many people as possible to get involved in and to learn more about our projects, particularly in understanding the local economic and social benefits our developments can create.
As the development of Kilgallioch Windfarm Extension progresses we will continue to engage with communities, stakeholders and the local council to determine how benefits could be delivered to best meet the needs of the local area, should the project be consented.
