Mid Galloway and Wigtown West Election of Councillor
One Councillor is to be elected for the Mid Galloway and Wigtown West Ward of Dumfries and Galloway Council.

  1. Nomination forms can be obtained from the Elections Office at Council Offices, English Street, Dumfries DG1 2DD and are also available to download from https://www.electoralcommission.org.uk/i-am-a/candidate-or-agent/local-council-elections-in-scotland-2017
  2. The Elections Office is open for the issue and delivery of nomination papers on weekdays from Thursday 28 November 2019 between 10am and 4pm, excluding Thursday 12 December 2019 and Friday 13 December 2019.
  3. Completed nomination forms must be delivered to the Returning Officer at Council Offices, English Street, Dumfries DG1 2DD by 4pm on Monday 16 December 2019.
  4. If the election is contested, the poll will be held in the ward and voting will take place between 7am and 10pm on Thursday 23 January 2020.
  5. Applications to register to vote must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Municipal Chambers, Buccleuch Street, Dumfries, DG1 2AD by midnight on Tuesday 7 January 2020. Applications can be made online: https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.

Postal or proxy voting

  1. Any elector may apply for a postal or proxy vote at this election.
  2. Applications, amendments or cancellations of postal votes must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Municipal Chambers, Buccleuch Street, Dumfries, DG1 2AD by 5pm on Wednesday 8 January 2020.
  3. Applications to amend or cancel existing proxy arrangements must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Municipal Chambers, Buccleuch Street, Dumfries, DG1 2AD by 5pm Wednesday 8 January 2020.
  4. New applications to vote by proxy at this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Municipal Chambers, Buccleuch Street, Dumfries, DG1 2AD by 5pm on Wednesday 15 January 2020.

  5. Applications to vote by proxy at this election applied for on grounds of physical incapacity or for work/service reasons must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Municipal Chambers, Buccleuch Street, Dumfries, DG1 2AD by 5pm on Thursday 23 January 2020. The physical incapacity must have occurred after 5pm on Wednesday 15 January 2020.
    To apply on the grounds of work/service, the person must have become aware that they cannot go to the polling station in person after 5pm on Wednesday 15 January 2020.
